Answer before revealing the back
Say, write or sketch an answer before checking the card. Decide in advance which parts must be present for the answer to count, especially for definitions with conditions. If you remember only the general topic, mark the missing part rather than giving yourself credit for familiarity. Occasionally change the order of practice so neighboring cards do not supply the answer. For a diagram, recreate the relevant labels instead of simply recognizing their positions.
Apply the idea in a new situation
After reviewing a rule, make a fresh example with different details. If a card covers percentage change, calculate the change from 80 to 100 rather than repeating the numbers printed on the card. Explain why the starting value is the denominator. Compare your method with course examples and note which step was uncertain. For an essay subject, connect two cards into a short argument with evidence rather than treating isolated definitions as a finished response.
Check coverage outside your collection
Use a syllabus or assignment brief to list the skills being assessed: definitions, calculations, comparisons, extended writing or practical work. Mark which skills your cards actually cover and choose a separate task for the gaps. Try a small set of course-style questions under conditions relevant to your exam, then review both mistakes and incomplete reasoning. An app’s activity or readiness indicator cannot establish complete coverage; your source requirements and performance on varied tasks provide the working evidence.
Take it with you
- Produce an answer before looking for recognition.
- Use new examples to examine the method, not just recall.
- Compare your collection with the actual course requirements.
